Due to our schedule changes this week and Tuesday’s “snow day”, I’m giving students until Thursday to turn in any quiz corrections.

Monday:

Guest Speaker: Nutrition and Digestive Health:

As part of our unit on the Digestive System, Mrs. Jen Sohl-Marion, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, has agreed to speak to the class about nutrition and how to interpret food labels in order to promote healthy eating habits.

Jen Sohl-Marion is a Registered Dietitian with a strong interest in the mind-body connection. She earned her Master of Public Health degree in Nutrition from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

She devoted the first  twelve years of her professional career to teaching high school biology and taking leadership roles to advocate for the needs of students and staff.  Her success in improving her medical conditions, providing healthy and tasty meals for her family, and teaching her students about good nutrition inspired her to reach out help others make positive changes in their lives.

As a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN), she has undergone rigorous training and offers nutrition counseling based on the latest scientific evidence in the field of nutrition. An RD, LDN is the only type of nutritionist permitted to practice dietetics/nutrition in North Carolina.

 Tuesday:

Wednesday:

  • Language Arts Benchmark
  • Warmup: Cores 1 & 2 Read text pages B52 -B55. Answer questions 1-5 and define vocabulary under the “Daily Agenda” on the board.
  • Excretory System Video
  • Vocabulary: urinary system, urine, glomerulus, nephrons, ureter, urethra, bladder, skin

Thursday:

  • Social Studies Benchmark
  • Warmup: Cores 3 & 4 Read text pages B52 -B55. Answer questions 1-5 and define vocabulary under the “Daily Agenda” on the board.
